Harka Lama on Cape Epic 2025
“Cape Epic 2025 – A Journey of Gratitude and Determination.” Participating in the Cape Epic 2025 in South Africa was one of the greatest honors of my cycling career. As a mountain biker from Nepal and a cancer survivor, competing in one of the world's most prestigious and demanding mountain bike stage races was a dream come true. This unforgettable opportunity was made possible by my friend from Germany, Peter Yong, who invited me to join his team and supported me throughout this journey. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Peter for his trust, friendship, and generosity. Without his support, this dream would not have become a reality. Our category included 132 teams, and together we proudly finished in 40th place. While our result was something to celebrate, simply completing the Cape Epic was an achievement in itself. For me, Cape Epic was much more than a race. It was proof that after overcoming
cancer, new dreams can still become reality. Every stage taught me that with courage, support, and perseverance, we can overcome even the toughest challenges. This experience strengthened my Ride to Life mission to inspire others through cycling and raise awareness about cancer. I remain deeply grateful to Peter Yong for making this life-changing opportunity possible. “Cancer cannot take away our hope. Every finish line is the beginning of a new journey.”
